Haileybury Chaplain Chris Briggs is a highly respected member of the College community and integral to its daily life, not just as Chaplain but also in terms of his work in developing the overall spiritual side of life here, including the Haileybury Habits. During his career, he has experienced many different spiritual challenges, including working with prisoners when based in Hong Kong during the 1990s.
Haileybury Chaplain, Chris Briggs, is a full time member of staff and lives on the campus. He is available to provide support, pastoral care and spiritual counsel to the whole community.
Chris has a unique role within the Haileybury community and his availability for confidential conversations is highly regarded by the pupils.
Chris served his title in the Parish of St Mary the Virgin Horsell in the Guildford Diocese between 1989 and 1993 before moving to Hong Kong.
In Hong Kong between 1993 and 1997, he served as Chaplain at St John's Cathedral with specific responsibility for the Daughter Church of St Stephen, Stanley, and as Chaplain of Stanley and Tung Tau Prisons.
He returned to the UK in 1997 as vicar of St George with St Nicholas, Norton, in Letchworth Garden City; joining Haileybury as Chaplain in 2000.
