Sixth Form curriculum (Years 12 and 13)

The Sixth Form presents a new and exciting challenge to pupils: it is a time of great personal growth and discovery. Pupils have the opportunity to develop a clear sense of purpose and direction; this requires a degree of reflection and self-analysis in order for pupils to assess their strengths, their weaknesses and their ambitions. This progression is supported and nurtured by all staff at Haileybury.

Sixth Form pathways

In conjunction with this growth is the opportunity for pupils to decide on their own pathways.

At Haileybury, there are two clear pathways available to pupils:

  • the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
  • or the A Level programme.

While there are key differences in the structuring and assessment of these pathways, they are fundamentally unified by our commitment to learning.

Similarly, Sixth Form pupils are imbued with a clear sense of duty and service, working with the local or international community to develop and support growth outside of the school. This is not only important for inculcating a sense of responsibility; it also offers the opportunity for immense personal growth and a clear sense of purpose moving forwards.

The clear thread that runs through the academic and co-curricular options available to pupils is the sense that we are child-centred, and our great strength is that we can support highly personalised pathways.

The Sixth Form is a period of progression and growth. Pupils will be supported to develop a clear sense of purpose and identity that will serve them as they move beyond Haileybury, and out in to the wider world. However, Haileybury will act as the anchor point, the centre to which that development is tethered, as we prepare our pupils to make the world a better place.
