On this page, you can learn about the College's assessment and selection criteria for pupils joining Haileybury at Lower School
Details can also be found on entrance examinations and the application timeline for 2019 entry.
In Lower School (Year 7), we admit up to 70 pupils each year, evenly divided between boys and girls due to the pastoral structure of the College at Year 9.
Entry is by competitive examination using the College’s own tests in Mathematics, English, and an online Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning Assessment.
The entrance examination takes place in the November preceding the year of entry (a candidate’s Year 6).
All applicants are interviewed and interviews are arranged on or near to the day of the assessment.
In assessing applications a judgement is made as to the individual candidate's potential. The school report and reference from the Head of their current school is taken into account, as are other talents such as music, art and sport.
For September 2019 entry, the Registration deadline is Friday 9 November 2018.
The Main Examination Days are on Friday 30 November or Saturday 1 December 2018.
The Art, Music and All Rounder Scholarship assessments are on Wednesday 28 November 2018 and the Sports Scholarship assessments are on Thursday 29 November 2018.
