A Haileybury education is active and joyful; a creative adventure where pupils realise and embrace their full potential.

From the moment pupils arrive, they enter an academic environment committed to finding joy in and out of the classroom and inspiring a lifelong passion for learning. Academically curious and intellectually fearless, Haileyburians develop character alongside academic excellence, grounding their knowledge with conscience, integrity and purpose.
Outstanding grades are just the beginning. By teaching our pupils how to learn, we equip them with the adaptability and confidence needed to understand and succeed in a rapidly evolving modern world. They develop the skills needed to continue far beyond their school days, exploring beyond standard exam specifications to discover their unique intellectual interests and ambitions.
Haileybury’s curriculum balances core academic knowledge with immersive, project-based learning to develop vital research, collaboration and communication skills. Our teaching balances the best of both traditional and contemporary methods, embracing technology and AI, while ensuring that they always support the crucial teacher-pupil relationships that underpin the excellent teaching and learning at Haileybury.
In the Lower School (Years 7 and 8), the curriculum combines strong academic foundations with the development of key skills and personal character. Alongside a strong core of subjects, pupils’ confidence in communication, reading, oracy, digital literacy and creativity is strengthened through extended workshops in computing, music, drama, art and design technology, as well as timetabled reading and wellbeing classes.
As pupils progress into Removes (Year 9), they continue to study the core curriculum while also choosing two Removes Pathway courses. The pathways allow pupils to shape their own learning experience and begin to explore their individual interests. They select from a wide range of options available from Advanced Science and Astrophysics, Computer Science: programming and AI for the Modern world to Psychology and Sports Science.
During the Middles and Fifths years (Years 10 and 11), pupils study ten or eleven GCSEs taking public examinations at the end of Fifths (Year 11).
Into the Sixth Form, our broad and balanced curriculum is offered through choice: pupils can choose the IBDP or the A Level pathway, and, if they opt for the latter, their studies are complemented by a series of Academic Electives that enable them to specialise in areas of specific interest.
Pupils are motivated learners who engage productively with academic challenge.
