fbpx HPA News & Events - Haileybury

Due to the pandemic, we have been running fewer House events this school year. We are conscious that many parents are spending more time on screens than they would like, so zoom socialising is not always a welcome option. However, we have been working with the HM’s to run some virtual events, particularly for parents new to the School. At the same time, your HPA Reps are always open to ideas and are available to answer any questions you may have.

As well as House events, there would normally be a number of HPA whole school events. These include Mistletoe & Lanterns, Quiz Night and our Biennial Ball. Sadly, these have had to be cancelled over the last few months. We have worked to adapt and have run two whole school virtual events, details below. Of course, we hope to be able to meet in person over the coming months and small House events for parents may be possible, although perhaps not on site at Haileybury. Of course, we will always follow Government Guidelines.

We are hoping that our Biennial Ball can go ahead in September 2021, having been delayed by a year. However, this will remain under review. A Summer Ball in 2022 may be more likely.

Forthcoming Events

Annual General Meeting, Sunday 20 June 7:30pm (to be confirmed)

It is likely that the HPA AGM will be run on zoom again this year. However, if we are able to meet after 21st June, we will try to change the date as we have traditionally invited parents to drinks and canapes following the meeting.

Past Events

Annual Quiz, Thursday 25 February 2021 7.00 pm in Big School via Zoom

Each year, the HPA hosts a Quiz Night in the Spring Term. This year, for the first time, this was run via Zoom. We had a huge turn-out of over 200 people in 27 teams and as we were online, we were able to welcome overseas parents, which was great. The evening was a lot of fun and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The result was very close and decided by a tie-breaker! Congratulations to the Kipling Home Schooligans. Thank you to Sarah Webb for being such a wonderful Quizmaster. Thanks also to Katie Crossley for her help on the night and to Tess Cleverley for assisting us to organise.

Christmas Cocktails, Thursday 3 December 2020 via Zoom

This was our first ever virtual whole school event. We had over 200 people participating in a Cocktails masterclass with a professional mixologist. We then separated into House breakout rooms. Lots of fun was had by all and we had some great feedback from everyone that joined us. It was lovely to be able to include overseas parents who do not generally have the opportunity to join HPA events. We will certainly look to continue some virtual events in the future.
