Haileybury has invested heavily over the past 10 years in improving the School's facilities. It finds itself today as one of the leading co-educational boarding schools in the country. This has in the main been a result of the generosity shown by Old Haileyburians, Parents and Friends of the School, as well as shrewd financial management. Haileybury, like many other independent schools, is not well-endowed; however, we still aim to expand upon and upgrade our excellent facilities in addition to increasing our scholarship and bursary provision for the future.

The role of the Development Office is to accelerate the building programme at Haileybury and to substantially increase the funds available for projects alongside bursaries and scholarships.

The School has a formal development plan which is agreed by the School Council.

We also have a Development Board which gives guidance and support to the School on how to take forward the future agenda.

To date the Development Office has supported the School in many areas such as sport, music, art, design and technology and major projects.

Just like the rest of the School, we have set ourselves high targets and challenges and wish to raise funds of at least half a million pounds per year in support of the School's capital and educational projects.

In doing so, we hope that the Haileybury family will continue in their support for Haileybury, thus ensuring that we have a foundation for educational excellence for future generations to come.

The Development Office at Haileybury is essential to the funding of key projects for the School and in providing essential funds for scholarships and bursaries. We work very closely with the Haileybury wider community in offering ways in which people can support the School for the future. We have recently been fortunate enough to help enable a £2.5 million new Modern Languages Centre, which opened to pupils in January 2010. This state-of-the-art building has only been made possible through the support of our old Haileyburian community alongside very generous Haileybury parents and our various corporate partners. The new centre will be a great addition to both current pupils and those to come.

Moving into the future, we are looking to build a second All Weather Pitch. The demand for a second Astroturf stems from increased use by both our pupils and the local community for our current facility. A second pitch would mean that we are able to accommodate all pupils' sports fixtures and practice sessions on home ground.

The project will cost £650,000 and will enhance facilities for both our current pupils and the many generations of future Haileyburians. We hope that as soon as we have secured the funds, the project can get under way and will be a great asset to add to our first-class sports facilities.

Whilst supporting this very exciting project, the Development Office is also implementing a plan which will increase funds for bursaries. Under the title of "The Attlee Fund", we hope to raise in excess of £1 million to help support those who otherwise would not be able to afford to attend Haileybury.
