Rugby

There is a proud tradition of rugby at Haileybury, dating back to the 19th century. Over the years, the College has played all the top public schools such as Harrow, Tonbridge, Uppingham and Wellington and retains a prestigious fixture list.

Nurturing the physical, mental, technical and tactical development of our players is paramount. 24 experienced coaches, many of them with years of experience playing first class rugby, including appearances for and against The Barbarians and international opposition make up the coaching team. In addition, Paul Turner, former Welsh international and Wasps Backs Coach regularly works with players of all ages as our Professional Rugby Consultant.

We run 13 teams and have seven pitches, including our inspirational 1st XV pitch, the envy of many a visiting school, with the backdrop of the main building and Chapel. We are also lucky to have very good financial support for equipment and facilities; recently, the Old Haileyburians RFC donated £25,000 towards new equipment and for supporting a tour.
Recent leavers include premiership players Jamie George (Saracens & England U20) and Chris Wyles (Saracens & USA).
