who died on Thursday 19 July 1945 . Age 27 .

Additional Information: Son of Henry Edward and Ann Elizabeth Bass; husband of Margaret Annette Bass, of Southsea, Hampshire, England. Cemetery: SYDNEY WAR CEMETERY New South Wales, Australia Grave or Reference Panel Number: 22. B. 1.He was killed in an air crash near Sydney Australia, when the aircraft he was travelling in crashed on take off. Commander Bass was nominally attached to HMS Montcalm, the submarine depot ship assigned to the Pacific Fleet. Note the Haileybury Register gives date of birth 24 Feb 1905 & father as Captain J. Bass. Thus appears register has problem & the J. E Bass of ISC 1918.3 may not have died as stated.
