Pasir Panjang Battle Diary       Saturday, 14th February

"C" Company was now on Bukit Chandu. Japanese attacked fiercely in the afternoon, using grenades and automatic weapons. It was here, on Bukit Chandu, that the Malay Regiment fought most gallantly. This battle, against incredible odds, became known to posterity as the illustrious "Battle at Bukit Chandu".

In the Alexandra Brickworks area, the heavily armed "D" Company, exacted revenge by killing a hundred or so Japanese, who were marching down Pasir Panjang Road.

About 600 surviving Malay Regiment soldiers reassembled in the Keppel Golf Link area. Here, they were separated from the British officers. They later joined POWs from the Indian Battalions at the Farrer Park concentration area.
