Astroturf
Haileybury is delighted to announce that we are looking to build a second All Weather Pitch. Haileybury currently has one All Weather Pitch for pupils' use but demand for this resource exceeds our capacity. The need for a second Astroturf stems from increased use by both our pupils and the local community for our current facility.
A second pitch would mean that we will be able to accommodate all pupils' sports fixtures and practice sessions on home ground. On regular occasions, the pupils have to travel to other pitches within the county in order to complete their sports studies and fixtures.
Sports that are played on the Astroturf pitch include Hockey, Football, Tennis, Lacrosse and Netball. Key features are that the pitch can be used in all weathers, it is floodlit, and the pupils and the local community use this facility through the year as a main sports venue.
The popularity of the All Weather Pitch leads to the need for a second pitch in order to meet our pupils' needs. With plans to build this close to the Sports Complex, this new and exciting project can indeed only add to and enhance our current sporting facilities.
The project will cost £650,000 and will enhance facilities for both our current pupils and the many generations of future Haileyburians. We hope that we can raise the funds for this new facility through the generosity and help of the Haileybury community. We are aiming to try to complete this project by the end of 2011, but work can commence on the new facility as soon as we have secured the funds. We do hope that you will join us in supporting this new, exciting project that will be a great asset to add to our first-class sports facilities for generations to come.
