Lower School 11+
The Lower School is that part of Haileybury into which boys and girls aged 11 are welcomed into Year 7. Approximately 55 boys and girls are admitted each year either as day pupils or as boarders. After two years in the Lower School, pupils automatically graduate into the Removes (Year 9) to join the new intake from the preparatory schools either as day pupils or, if they wish, as boarders.
The Lower School operates within its own self-contained building and, since we understand that within the grand scheme of things, 11-year-olds are still relatively young children for whom arrival into a large secondary school is a potentially daunting experience. the Lower School tutorial team and boarding staff seek to create a secure and protective environment from which boys and girls can gradually become immersed into the school at large.
